OutRight’s Executive Director, Jessica Stern, is quoted in an article by maltatoday that addresses the controversial proposal to give the Vatican a more active role and presence at the World Health Organization (WHO). Stern comments that “the WHO is no place for religiously based exclusion, especially in the midst of a pandemic which has disproportionately harmed those who are most vulnerable, including LGBTIQ people and women.” The Holy See historically holds regressionist attitudes towards issues such as LGBTIQ rights, and sexual and reproductive health and rights.
